The Grasse Film Festival was held from April 17th to 20th. Of the nearly 750 films sent in from many countries, 7 short and 9 feature films were screened, including 5 having a first showing. The idea for the festival came in 1999 during a training course for high school students led by film critic Bernard Tourre. The students suggested the idea of creating a film festival to promote short films and young directors. Responsible for founding the festival, high school students remain very involved, coming from across the region to form the jury. There are also introductory criticism courses for them.
Actor Arsène Jiroyan chaired the jury, which awarded the “Golden Jasmine” to Franck Ychou for his film “Artem Silendi”
