SPAIN / National Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual Arts encourage international co-productions

co-productions

The Spanish Instituto de la Cinemamatografía y de las Artes Audiovisuales has published a ministerial decree announcing new measures to support the film industry. In particular the document encourages co-productions with foreign companies. There are now grants for films in which Spain has only a minority stake (around 5%).

Gender equality and accessibility are also an integral part of the decree: 35% of the total budget will be for projects run exclusively by women, and the decree allocates support for sub-titling and audio commentaries for films if needed.

The budget for these production grants is €11.9 million. The deadline for submissions set by the Instituto de la Cinemamatografía was August 10th.
