FRANCE / Appeal to help develop the «1538 Méditerranée» website

In February four journalists created an independent news website: 1538mediterranee.com. Their remit is to look at topical issues around the Mediterranean basin.

The site offers a number of folders about current affairs issues, each consisting of investigations, analysis, videos and various types of illustration. For example, up-coming folders will look at drug trafficking, the fight against gender-based violence, maritime pollution. Each folder is put together by people working in different Mediterranean countries.

The news platform also wants to become a Mediterranean social network, with everyone invited to create their own page, sharing information, their thoughts and experiences. The association «1538», which created 1538mediterranee.com, works in partnership with the «Rencontres d’Averroès». It also participates in the «Collège de Méditerranée» which organizes meetings between the public and researchers in Marseille.

To continue developing this project, in particular to make the web-site available in English and Arabic, a crowd-funding campaign has been launched. You can reach it here.
