In May the Bouches-du-Rhône department will once again have a privately-run local TV channel, Provence Azur. It will be available on channel 30 of DTT, previously used by TV Sud Provence and before that by LCM.
After a call for applications to replace TV Sud Provence, the CSA chose Provence Azur last June.
Two thirds of the new channel’s budget will be provided by the PACA region. In return, the region expects the channel to focus on local players, promote the area and broadcast events sponsored by the region.
The channel will be managed by SAS Azur TV whose chairman is Hervé Raynaud. With Provence Azur on-air and its sister channel Var Azur launching very soon, the Azur TV group will cover a territory stretching from Avignon to Menton, or about 6.4 million inhabitants.
