The 8th Workshop for Making TV News Reports Based on Film Archives
From September 14th to 21st the CMCA in partnership with INA, organised a workshop on making television news items based on archive material. 12 television journalists from the Mediterranean area took part, a record for this 8th session.
The theme of the workshop was “Environmental Pollution in Marseille and other Mediterranean Cities”. It began with the practical details and copyright laws surrounding the use of archive footage, moving on to how to use the camera, the shooting and editing. During the final stage all the points covered in the classroom were put into practice: each trainee making a film about one aspect of the set theme: pollution in Marseille.
The theoretical part was supervised by professionals from INA: Geneviève BEAUCOURT, head of Copyright, Philippe GERRIER, head of the preservation and digitisation service and Marie-Christine HELIAS, head of documentation and archive communications at INA Méditerranée.
The practical aspects and the overall supervision were provided by François MOUREN PROVENSAL, director, and Franco REVELLI, director, editor, and CMCA’s webmaster, with the collaboration of Stéphane PACHOT and Elia PIROSA.
