On Tuesday September 17th the Tunisian Cinematheque launched its new season, which includes an exhibition of the work of director of photography Youssef Ben Youssef, who died in December 2018. This posthumous tribute will continue until November 10th.
Mohamed Zine Elabidine, Minister of Tunisian Cultural Affairs, was present at the opening. Film professionals and personalities, as well as Ben Youssef’s relatives, were present.
The curator of the exhibition is Ben Youssef’s widow, Lilia, helped by the film critic and journalist Abdelakrim Gabbous. Ben Youssef’s career strongly influenced Tunisian films, and many first-hand accounts have been brought together for this exhibition.
The opening week included a retrospective of Youssef Ben Youssef’s films.
