Last July the head of the Tunisian government, Youssef Chahed, proposed three candidates for the post of chairman and CEO of the Établissement de la Télévision Tunisienne (ETT): Lassaad Dahech, Mahmoud Bounab and Khaled Njah. The Haute autorité indépendante de la communication audiovisuelle (HAICA) then reviewed each candidate’s files and interviewed them individually. As a result, Lassaad Dahech was selected to run the ETT and has been in office since August 9th.
He replaces Elyes Gharbi, who left in June 2017 and was provisionally replaced by Abdelmajid Mraihi and then Abderrazak Attabib.
Mohamed Lassaad Dahech’s mission is to carry out major reforms, principally to make regional and community media more secure and develop the sector more generally, which could involve new legislative tools.
