TUNISIA / Living in the time of coronavirus with Confi-Doc

Confi-Doc “Vivre au temps du coronavirus” (Living in the time of coronavirus”) is a project created by DocHouse in partnership with the IMS and the Danish Arab Partnership Programme. Five women directors each had a week to make a short documentary to raise awareness of the current pandemic and tell their personal stories about lockdown.

Confi-Doc

The five film-makers invite us into their worlds, their thoughts and their experiences with:

Deux mots by Baya Medhaffar: “Only two words. In the dark. We won’t see anything. We will only hear things. Phone calls in every direction.”
Le Chef de gare by Erige Sehiri. The director shows us Najib, a station master in Sidi Othman, who for 20 years has lived to the rhythm of passing trains. But today there are no trains, and time seems to stand still.
Paralysis by Hinde Boujemaa, a Tunisian-Belgian director who has won several awards. In her short film, she addresses loneliness and the difficult exercise of writing.
Silencio by Nidhal Guiga. For 6 minutes the film-maker describes two worlds affected by the lock -down: the natural world and the human.
And En attendant la résurrection by Intissar Belaid.

The short films are available here.

DocHouse is an independent not-for-profit organization working to promote production, distribution and professional networking of documentaries in Tunisia and North Africa.
