TUNISIA / Creation of a “Culture Recovery Fund”

On March 22nd the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs announced that a Fonds Relance Culture (FRC – Culture Recovery Fund) will be created for people in this sector during the Coronavirus crisis. The fund will support professionals and cultural places, helping them avoid financial problems during confinement. So far more than 700 events and festivals have been cancelled or postponed because of this confinement.

Culture Recovery

The ministry stressed that “this Culture Recovery Fund will be replaced by a longer-term ministerial action.” The FRC consists of grants from the private and public sectors.

As well as creating a more stable cultural environment, the fund has to help the cultural sector develop, in particular through digital transformation, to allow cultural activities to grow online and facilitate digitization of production and distribution processes.
