Mediwood, a Tunisian film studio, and Afreximbank, an African export-import bank, have signed a $3 million facility agreement.
The agreement will allow Mediwood Studios to develop its facilities and make Tunisia an attractive hub for film production. As Kanayo Awani, Vice-President of Afreximbank, explains:
“By improving Tunisia’s film-making infrastructure, we hope to attract international productions, foster local talent and promote authentic regional stories, thus strengthening Africa’s cultural influence globally. This is part of our mandate to support African creative industries through the CANEX programme. The expansion of Mediwood Studios will position Tunisia as an attractive hub for national and international film productions, enhancing the country’s visibility and appeal to global film-makers and promoting African stories and talent.”
