During the AGM of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) in Kuwait, Abdel Rahim Suleiman was elected new Director-General for a term of 4 years, beginning in January 2015. He succeeds Salaheddine Maaoui, who retired on 31st December after an eight year tenure.
The new DG used to be ASBU’s technical director and is responsible for the development and modernization of the Union’s technology systems, especially in television and radio.
He also played an active role in developing the exchange system of radio and television. Abdel Rahim Suleiman’s greatest achievement is his contribution to the development and operation of an exchange network Multimedia over Satellite System, known as ASBU- MENOS.
Abdel Rahim Suleiman was born in 1953 in Sudan. He began his career as an engineer in charge of Khartoum’s radio and television stations. Within the ASBU he has graduated from engineer to technical director.
