The 20th Festival of the Mediterranean in Images ended with acclaim for Silvia Munt’s La Granja del Pas, winner of the Grand Prix “Mediterranean Issues”. We look back at a week full of highlights, memorable particularly for the enthusiastic participation of high school students from all over the Mediterranean.
A total of 6,000 spectators came to the screenings and discussions organized at the Villa Méditerranée, the Alcazar and the Mucem. The public watched the 24 documentaries selected in competition, discussing each film afterwards with the film-makers invited to Marseille for the Festival.
A jury of broadcasting professionals chaired by journalist and political scientist Antoine Sfeir chose which of these 24 films should take the 11 awards, including 3 Broadcasting Awards and a Special Mention.
This year’s festival was also strong on “image education”, with something never tried before – 2,500 high school students from the PACA region, Switzerland and the Mediterranean (Algeria, Egypt, Italy) actively participated in PriMed, viewing 3 films from the selection and giving an award to one.
