MOROCCO – ITALY / Future collaboration agreed at the Tétouan Film Festival

During the 31st Tétouan Mediterranean Film Festival, which took place from October 3rd to 10th, a partnership programme was launched with Italy’s Cinecittà for greater Italian-Moroccan collaboration and more co-productions.

The idea is to foster bilateral ties between Tetouan and Matera. Both towns have been designated Mediterranean Capitals of Culture and Dialogue for 2026.

A conference, “Road to Matera”, showed cultural initiatives within that town and cooperation projects between Morocco and Italy. Industry professionals also took part in a session exploring new co-production opportunities between the two countries.

As part of this, the Matera Film Festival was invited to choose four Italian films to show in Tétouan, with the dialogue continuing in November when the Italians will host the Moroccan festival team for similar screenings at the Matera Film Festival.

This initiative was supported by the Italian Ministry of Culture, the Italian Embassy in Morocco, the Italian Cultural Institute in Rabat and the Italian Trade Agency in Casablanca.
