The first Fez International Film Festival (FIFF), initiated by an association of the same name, will be held from November 13th to 17th.
The organisers’ aim is to strengthen the town’s cultural identity and promote the Moroccan film industry as a whole. They hope it will “help boost the production, making and promotion of national films, while overcoming the difficulties which hinder its development”. Some thirty international films will be screened – short and feature-length, drama and documentary – with awards at the end of it.
According to the organisers, the festival will be “a space for exchange and dialogue between different cultures” as well as an opportunity for training students and film buffs through workshops run by film professionals.
The festival joins other key cultural events in Fez, such as the Festival of Sacred Music and the Festival of Amazigh Culture.
