This year, the Beirut Art Film Festival will take place in two stages: the BAFF Intramuros from November 20th to 25th and the BAFF Extramuros, at the campuses of partner universities, in schools and regional cultural centres across the country from November 1st to 30th.
During a ceremony in the festival’s offices, the BAFF 2018 Poster Awards were presented to students. The first prize of $1,000 was presented to Nivine Zaheredine of the Modern University for Business and Sciences, and the second prize of $500 to Mazen Asmar, a student of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Architecture.
The jury members were British and American diplomats, photographers, director Hadi Zaccak and the BAFF organising committee.
This is the competition’s second year, with last year’s success convincing the organisers to repeat the experience and involve more universities. The committee pointed out that “This initiative is in keeping with the spirit of the BAFF, which is to reach out to young people and encourage them to do research on current artistic topics which interest them, and above all to take an active part in promoting a national event.”
