The Amman International Film Festival, Awal Film, is launching a new programme to encourage web series: the Spark Series.
Developed as part of the Amman Film Industry Days, it will give selected creators of web series the chance to present their projects to an audience of film-makers, producers, distributors and industry professionals. The goal is to give creators exposure for their projects and help them build a professional network.
The Spark Series is led by Muriel Aboulrouss, a cinematographer and pioneer in the region. With over 25 years of experience, she is particularly known for her work on the award-winning web series Shankaboot and Zyara. Talking about this new programme she said: “A web series is not just a format; it’s a spark. It reveals your talent, your cinematic language and your path as an artist.”
Running from July 2nd to 10th, the theme of the 6th Awal Film will be “A World Unscripted”. “The theme celebrates films which break free from convention,” explains the Festival President, Princess Rym Ali. “Films in which characters transcend scripted lines and stories unfold in the chaos and beauty of lived experiences.”
