Dario Franceschini, the Italian Minister of Culture, presented the principal measures in the stability law passed by the cabinet and sent to the European Commission.

It shows that “the Ministry of Culture’s budget will increase by 8% in 2016 and by 10% in 2017”.

Tax credits to support film and broadcasting will be strengthened: the procedure will be simplified and financial means will be less restricted. Funds reserved for tax credits will increase by €25 million, going from €115 million in 2015 to €140 million in 2016, a rise of 21%. This measure will strengthen the tax mechanism which has already significantly increased the number of international productions coming into Italy,” he said.
