ITALY / Claudio Cappon becomes General Secretary of COPEAM

On April 9^th the 22nd AGM of the Conférence Permanente de l’Audiovisuel Méditerranéen (COPEAM), held in Ajaccio, ratified the renewal of the association’s governing bodies.

Talal El Makdessi,  CEO of Télé-Liban, was re-elected for a second term as COPEAM’s chairman.

Claudio Cappon, former DG of Rai and vice-chair of the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), became COPEAM’s new General Secretary. He will be assisted by Paola Parri, COPEAM’s coordinator, who becomes deputy General Secretary.

EPTV (Algeria), Radio France, RTVE (Spain) and TRT (Turkey) each take vice-chairmanship of COPEAM.

Alessandra Paradisi (RAI, Italy) and Raouf El Husseini (Radio Tunisienne) remain in charge respectively of the Strategy Committee and the Finance Committee.

New names were appointed to chair the various working committees: Hervé de Haro (Radio France) for the Radio Committee, Markus Nikel (Rai) for the Television Committee, Larbi Megari (EPTV, Algeria) for the TV News and Magazines Exchange Committee, Alain Brenas (Académie Libanaise des Beaux-Arts) for the Training Committee, Margherita Scanavino (Rai) for the Broadcasting Heritage Committee, Yolaine Lacolonge (Corsican Territorial Authority) for the Cinema / Festivals / Culture Committee, and Lalia Behidj (EPRS, Algeria) for the Gender Equality Committee.

The next COPEAM Conference will be held in 2017 in Beirut, as the guest of Tele-Liban.
