The Italian Minister of Culture, Dario Franceschini, has appointed the members of the new Higher Council for Cinema and Broadcasting. It will be chaired by Stefano Rulli, scriptwriter, who previously ran the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia, Rome’s principal film school.
The Council will be an advisory body reporting to the Ministry. It will be consulted when new broadcasting or cinema policies are being created, but it will also allocate public funding for both of these sectors.
The creation of the Higher Council is a result of the November 2016 “Franceschini Law” on cinema and broadcasting.
