The third printemps du film engagé, a festival of politically committed drama and documentary films, will be held in Marseille from April 6th to 14th. Organized by a collective of the same name, this year’s festival focuses on the theme “1968-2018, why I continue the fight”. Primitivi, a Marseille-based street television for alternative news, will broadcast a short film at the beginning of each screening. The films presented this year are:
– “Les sauteurs” by M. Siebert, E. Wagner and A. B. Sidibé, to be followed by a discussion on the right of asylum
– “Lettres de Marseille … Au cher pays de mon enfance” by Alain Barlatier, followed by a discussion on the positive elements of immigration
– “Bla Cinima” by Lamine Ammar-Khodja, then a discussion entitled “Why didn’t the Arab Spring happen in Algeria”.
– “A bientôt, j’espère” by Chris Marker, with a discussion on the forms of struggle over the past 50 years
– “Demain l’usine” by Clara Teper, the post-screening discussion will focus on the re-appropriation of the value of work
– “Les pieds sur terre” by Batiste Combret and Bertrand Hagenmüller, followed by a discussion on new forms of struggle
– Charlie Chaplin’s “The Immigrant” for young audiences, with a philosophy workshop
– “Terre des Roses” by Zayne Akyol, followed by a discussion on the future of the Kurds.
