“Mustang”, the first feature by Franco-Turkish director Deniz Gamze Ergüven, will be released in France on June 17th. “The beginning of summer. In a village in northern Turkey, Lale and her four sisters play innocently with boys on their way home from school. The supposed debauchery of their games creates a scandal with unexpected consequences. The family home gradually becomes a prison, practical domestic courses replace school and marriages are arranged. The five sisters, driven by the same desire for freedom, make a mockery of the limits imposed on them.” This film presented in the parallel section of the Directors’ Fortnight at the 68th Cannes Film Festival won the Europa Cinemas Label awarded by a jury of Europa Cinemas members.
