On March 31st France Télévisions signed a series of funding agreements with organizations representing film producers for animation films, documentaries and live entertainment.
Each agreement defines the remit of the films in that category, the annual increase of investment, the minimum distribution in each category and other provisions specific to each genre.
For example, the “animation” agreement commits France Télévisions to invest €60 million between 2017-2018 and then €64 million in 2019-2020. The “documentary” agreement specifies a minimum investment of €101 million, with €11.5 million in 2017 and €12.2 million in 2018, 2019 and 2020 for regional and overseas documentaries (against 11 million in the previous agreement). Finally, the “live entertainment” agreement renews the minimum funding decided in the 2016 negotiations (€14.5 million) and pledges to invest €31.5 million between 2017 and 2018 with the same amount for the period 2019-2020.
