The Spanish Ministry of Culture and Sport has announced €15 million to support the production of feature films.
47 of the 319 projects submitted have been selected, 27 of them are international co-productions, 9 with a Spanish majority. Half were chosen because they have a “special cinematographic, cultural or social value” and will share €11.8 million. The 17 documentaries will share €2,291,673 and €893,528 will be split between seven experimental projects. Again half of the films selected have women directors and will benefit from an endowment of €7.6 million. 16 also have a script written by women, among them “El agua”, a first feature by Elena López Riera, which will receive €111,500, while “Creatura”, Elena Martín’s second feature receives €800,000.
