The Annecy International Animation Film Festival’s Short Film Competition will feature “All These Sensations in My Belly” by Marko Dješka. Released in 2020, this 13-minute short follows Matia’s transition from male to female and her struggles to establish an intimate relationship with a heterosexual man.

A graduate of Zagreb’s Academy of Fine Arts, director Marko Dješka says:

My film is the true story of a transgender person from Croatia and her growing up in this intolerant environment. I hope that my film will provoke thought on an issue which is so widespread, but under-represented in the media.”

All These Sensations in My Belly” is a production of Adriatic Animation, and the Portuguese animation studio BAP. The film had its world premiere at the Anibar International Animation Festival 2020, and won the Best Film Award in the Balkans category.
