At the end of November, the Croatian parliament appointed Blago Markota as acting Director General of HRT, the country’s public broadcaster.
Blago Markota joined HRT in 1999 as a financial analyst. Since then he has held various positions within the group: Marketing Director, member of Croatian Television’s Board of Directors, and then advisor to the Director General. Most recently, he was head of both archives and programmes, working with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) on the digitization of archives belonging to south-eastern Europe’s public broadcasters.
Since 2014 he has been a member of the Executive Board of FIAT (Fédération Internationale des Archives de Télévision) and works with the Croatian Ministry of Culture on managing the national archives.
