FRANCE / Cesar 2016 : multicultural nominations

On January 27th the French Académie des Césars announced the nominations for this year’s awards, a multicultural choice.

Mustang from the Franco-Turkish director Deniz Gamze Erguven, Dheepan by Jacques Audiard, Maiween’s Mon Roi, Emmanuel Bercot’s La tête haute and Arnaud Depleschin’s Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse are all competing for the prestigious French cinema awards.

In the Best Actor category, Gérard Depardieu for Valley of love, Vincent Lyndon for la Loi du marché, Fabrice Luchini for l’Hermine, but also Jean-Pierre Bacri for La vie très privée de Monsieur Sim, Vincent Cassel for Mon Roi, François Damien for Les Cowboys and Antonythasan Jesuthasan in Deephan will be competing against each other.
The César for Best Actress will be shared between Catherine Deneuve in La tête haute, Isabelle Huppert in Valley of love, Catherine Frot in Marguerite, Moroccan actress Loubna Avisar in Much loved and Algerian actress Soria Zeroual for Fatima.

The awards will be announced on February 26th.
