Balkans / A cooperation agreement about a platform for actors

ReActing as a Star

On August 17th, during the Sarajevo Film Festival, the heads of five national film centres – Slovenian, Croatian, Serbian, North Macedonian and Montenegran – signed a three-year cooperation agreement.

The agreement concerns a project called ReActing as a Star. Created in June during the second KRAFFT film festival in Slovenia (a festival focused on acting), ReActing as a Star is a networking platform for actors from the Balkan countries. The idea is to connect them with casting directors and agents to promote their talents regionally and internationally. During the three-day event in June, 20 professional actors were selected to participate, getting to know each other, sharing their expertise and experiences in various workshops.

The signing of the agreement is a result of the success of this first edition, which boosted the visibility of the region’s actors and actresses. For the signatories, it represents a positive step for the sector. According to Chris Marcich, director of the Croatian Audiovisual Centre, “by signing the protocol (…), I hope we will be able to work in many areas and, above all, strengthen cooperation between actors and directors. The openness and possibility for actors to work abroad is an additional asset for all future participants.”

The next edition of ReActing as a Star will take place in June 2023, again as part of the KRAFFT film festival.
