ALGERIA / Call for film projects for the Béjaïa Film Laboratory 2017

For the third consecutive year Project’Heurts, which organizes the Rencontres Cinématographiques de Béjaïa, is launching a call for film projects as part of the Béjaïa Film Laboratory.

The Béjaïa Film Laboratory was created to help young Moroccan, Algerian and Tunisian professionals make their film projects. It makes this possible by awarding two bursaries:

  • A writing grant of 200,000 dinars (about €1,700) plus 4 weeks in a writing residency;

  • A post-production aid grant of 300,000 dinars (about €2,500) plus 8 weeks of editing.

Only projects for long documentaries and short drama films (less than 30 minutes) are accepted.

Initially two independent committees will select 4 to 8 projects. The projects’ creators will then be invited to the 15th Rencontres Cinématographiques de Béjaïa to take part in pitching sessions explaining their projects to a jury. Those chosen for a grant will be announced at the festival’s closing ceremony.

Projects must be submitted in French, Arabic or Tamazight. The deadline for submission of the application is June 1st 2017.
