Corsica’s oldest film festival took place in Bastia from October 6th to 13th. It highlights Mediterranean talent, while this year focussing particularly on film soundtracks. Spectators were able to meet composers and musicians such as Bruno Coulais, Serge Perathoner and Anne Gravoin.
The festivities began with a pre-release screening of Les Invisibles, the second feature of French film-maker Louis-Julien Petit. The festival week was punctuated with well-known classic and contemporary films, documentaries, series and short films made by students, all celebrating and testifying to the vitality of Mediterranean film-making,
Seven feature films had been pre-selected for the Mediterranean film competition. The jury, chaired by Thierry de Peretti, awarded the Arte Mare Negroni Voyage Grand Prix to Mohamed Ben Attia’s Tunisian Mon cher enfant, while the MGEN Public Award, the Pierre Mari RCFM Award and the Air France Travel Award all went to Abu Bakr Shawky’s Yomeddine. There were four other competitions, each with its own awards – Prix du film Corse, Hors les murs, Prix écoles de cinéma and the Prix Ulysse.
