TUNISIA / A new head for the JCC

At the end of February the Tunisian Ministry of Cultural Affairs appointed Nejib Ayed, a film producer, to run the Carthage Film Days (JCC) this year and next. He succeeds Brahim Letaief, also a producer.

Néjib Ayed was born in 1953 in Ksar Hellal. After a Master’s in French, he moved into the film industry where he worked as Secretary General and then chairman of the Fédération Tunisienne des Ciné – Clubs (FTCC). In the 1980’s, he became head of SATPEC (Société Anonyme Tunisienne de Production et d’Expansion cinématographique) and then film critic for the newspaper “Le Temps” and editor of the Culture section of the magazine “Réalités”.

In 1999 he founded a production company, Rives Production, based in Tunis which has produced many films and series such as Brahim Babaï’s Une Odyssée and Mohamed Amine Boukhris’ War Reporter (Il Hay Irrawah).

Note that the Journées Cinématographiques will be held from the end of October to the beginning of November. 2017 will be their 28th year.
