The Festival is for films showing any aspect of the relationship between a port and the town around it: the workings of a port, the historical development of ports, any activities created by a port, the ways a port influences the urban surroundings or the relationships between different ports.

This year’s special theme is migrants, so there will be an emphasis on ports as places of departure and arrival.

The films must be subtitled in English, Italian or French if they have been made in any other language.

Film-makers wanting to take part can submit a maximum of one film in each of the festival’s three categories: drama, documentary and short film.

Founded in Marseille in 2012, the Port Zones Festival is an interdisciplinary event dedicated to marine and port areas. Since 2015, there have been two versions, one in Saint-Nazaire (France) and the other in Genoa (Italy).
