At the end of 2016 the streaming platform Netflix purchased the broadcasting rights for Season 1 then Season 2 of the Israeli series Fauda. One of the series’ creators and screenwriters, and also one of its lead actors, is Lior Raz. He was brought up in Jerusalem’s eastern suburbs, then when he left school did his military service in an elite counter-terrorism unit. After a few years in the United States, he returned to settle in Israel, re-uniting with a childhood friend who had also served in the same battalion. Using their own experiences they created the Fauda series, portraying the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a similar counter-terrorism unit. Season 3 began transmission at the end of 2019 and should arrive on the Netflix platform during the year.
Meanwhile Lior Raz has done a lot more than Fauda. Recently he was in the cast of the latest Michael Bay film, 6 Underground, also broadcast on Netflix, alongside Ryan Reynolds and Mélanie Laurent.
He is also one of the creators and writers of a new drama series Hit and Run, scheduled to air later this year. He will also continue to appear on Netflix as an actor in the new platform-commissioned series, Typhoon. Shooting is slated to begin in Tel Aviv next month.
