FRANCE / Martigues – the new Hollywood. Thanks to Provence Studios

For the past four years, one film has followed one another at Provence Studios.

In 2018 this film studio on an industrial estate in Martigues, 40 km from Marseille, hosted 104 films. Almost ten times more than four years ago, when Olivier Marchetti initiated the project in dis-used warehouses on a 22-hectare site.

With an area of 26,000 m2, the studio has all the space necessary for a producer’s needs. The facility includes a 2,000 m2 studio, a waterfall, a large storage area, and areas with blue and green backgrounds for inlay. Provence Studios is a real ecosystem, combining filming areas, a film school, a motion capture studio and a design studio.

The presence of competent professionals is a huge asset for attracting national and international productions – indeed a producer’s first requirement is good sets and trained teams.

The facilities bring enormous added value to a part of France already attractive because of its exceptional natural settings. Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur is the second most popular region for filming, after Paris. In 2018 Marseille hosted 480 films.

Many music videos, commercials, short films and features are expected again in 2019.
