FRANCE / Cinemed 2015 gives its awards

On Saturday, October 31st the 37th Cinemed ended with an Award ceremony in Montpellier. The Golden Antigone this year went to João Salaviza for “Montanha” a film about a teenager becoming the man of the house while his grandfather is dying.

Another Portuguese director, João Pedro Placido, won the Ulysses Award in the documentary section for “Volta à Terra” about a shepherd boy in a village in northern Portugal. He also won the Student First Film Award. Earlier in the week there was a retrospective of Miguel Gomes’ work and the new Portuguese cinema.

The Short Film Grand Prix went to Gülistan Acet’s Turkish film “Sin”.

Note also that development grants were given to three film projects.
