FRANCE / Awards of the 42nd Cinemed

The 42nd Cinemed ended on October 24th. This Montpellier-based film festival is purely for Mediterranean films. Eleven awards were given at the end of this year’s festival.

Among the feature films, the Antigone d’Or went to Srdan Golubovic for his film Father (Serbia). The BNP Paribas Critics’ Award was won by Ludovic and Zoran Boukherma for Teddy (France), while the music for Teddy won the Prix JAM. A Special Jury Mention was given to Ismaël El Iraki for his film Zanka Contact (France / Morocco / Belgium).

The Midi Libre Audience Award went to Nir Bergman for Here We Are (Israel / Italy). The Young Audience Award was given to Dervis Zaim for Flashdrive (Turkey).

In the Short Film category, the Grand Prix went to Adi Mishnayot for Image of Victory (Israel), while Firas Khoury’s Maradona’s Legs (Palestine / Germany) received the two Audience Awards and the Canal Plus Award.

Two documentaries also won awards: Acasa, my Home by Radu Ciorniciuc (Romania / Finland / Germany) won the Prix Ulysse and Lina Soualem’s Leur Algérie (France / Algeria) won the Student First Film Award.

Two days were given over to pitches, with the jury of the Development Aid Grant choosing two projects. The main award goes to Like a Tree, a project for a first feature by Turkish film-maker Tunç Davut. The second grant, endowed by the Occitanie region, also goes to a first feature project, this one by Tunisian director Khedija Lemkecher, Un huitième.
