TURKEY / The Istanbul Film Festival organises the 14th “Meetings on the Bridge”

“Meetings on the Bridge”, a platform for film industry professionals, will be held from April 7th to 12th, on the sidelines of the 38th Istanbul Film Festival.

Its goal is to create fresh opportunities for people in the industry to collaborate with others from the region and Europe. It also allows film-makers, producers and scriptwriters from Turkey and neighbouring countries to present their film projects to international colleagues as part of the Film Development Workshop and the Neighbours Platform, and to present their films in post-production through Work in Progress.

Of the 120 applications received, 13 feature-length films have been selected for the Film Development Workshop. Among them are two documentary projects: Selda by Amber İşbilen, which follows the Turkish singer Selda Bağcan, and Güneş, by Nejla Demirci, which is about the life of young footballers.

Divided into collaborative workshops and individual meetings, the Film Development Workshop is a training programme to promote exchanges between those taking part and initiate future collaborations. Before presenting their projects, participants are given guidance in screenwriting, project presentation, marketing and using the social networks. Then, better equipped, they show their work to film professionals from around the world. Projects are eligible for different awards, such as the MFI Script Workshop Award, or the Melodika Sound Award.
