This year’s European Film Market will be held from February 20th to 27th. The event is a market promoting meetings between various strands of the film business. For a week, international representatives come together to exchange views and present their different programmes.
This year the French production company Totem Films, created in 2018, will present several of its feature films. Three of them, including two with roots in the Mediterranean, will have a market screening which should guarantee worldwide sales :
Kiss me before it blows up by Shirel Peleg. For her first feature, the Israeli director focuses on love stories involving two generations of Israeli women. The first falls in love with a German, the second with a Palestinian. The dialogue is in German, English, Arabic and Hebrew. The film is produced by two German companies, Fireglory Pictures and Erfttal Film.
Luxor by Zeina Durra. The story is about a British aid worker returning to the ancient Egyptian city of Luxor. There she re-connects with an archaeologist, Sultan, who is a former lover. Wandering through a city she knows well she tries to reconcile the choices of the past with the uncertainty of the present. Of Bosnian, Palestinian, Jordanian and Lebanese origin, Zeina Durra lets the richness of her own heritage shine through her characters. Luxor is a co-production between Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom through the companies Film Clinic and Front Row.
