FRANCE / Increasing turnover helps INA continue growth

A statement released on April 29th announced that INA’s Board of Directors has approved the accounts and balance sheets for 2018, the fourth year of the five-year Targets and Resources Contract 2015-2019.

For the third consecutive year the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel has seen its turnover increase, totalling €39.4 million, up 10% compared to 2015. Its net profit reached €0.5 million. The wage bill is under control, at €66.5 million, with the ceiling set by the Targets and Resources Contract being €67.5 million.

Despite a drop of €1.65 million in INA’s state subsidies, profit before tax and profit-sharing was €0.8 million — compared to €0.2 million in 2017.

The press release also shows that investments excluding properties are unexpectedly high, at €21.6 million, adding that INA is continuing its buildings project, “fully self-financed for a total of €26 million”.

These positive results highlight “the success of INA’s strategy worked out three years ago to seize every opportunity to renew all its digital offers – editorial, training or research – and, through a policy of multichannel distribution, the way they are shared and who they are aimed at.”

Thanks to the editorial innovation policy developed by INA, its audience reached a record level with nearly 510 million videos viewed in 2018 (with a very large increase in the number of views on Instagram and Twitter).

Laurent Vallet, Chairman and CEO of INA, commented on these results: “The solid results of 2018 confirm our strategy and will allow INA to further accelerate the deployment of its corporate project in 2019 so it can offer a first version of its Hub in early 2020. The Hub will be a single platform storing everything we have on offer, thus bringing to fruition the promise made to our fellow citizens of an increased memory designed to help everyone, every day, to better understand the present in order to build a better future.”
