ARAB WORLD / This year’s Arab Radio and Television Festival organised by ASBU

The 18th Arab Radio and Television Festival will be held in Hammamet, Tunisia, from April 25th to 28th 2017.

It is organized by the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU), in collaboration with Tunisian radio and television companies and in partnership with the prestigious ARABSAT, the leading satellite broadcaster in the Arab region.

Created two years ago, the festival is now an annual event. Its aim is to help develop radio and television production and improve content in order to meet the expectations of its members. It also encourages creative talent in the younger generation.

The festival will include two competitions: one for television programmes and one for radio. There will also be seminars and workshops on radio and television production issues.

The Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) is one of the oldest pan-Arab institutions. It is a professional organization, created in February 1969 in Khartoum, whose main objective is to “strengthen ties and cooperation between Arab broadcasting organizations for better production and content development”.

As an important partner of the CMCA, the ASBU is one of PriMed’s co-organizers, along with the CMCA, France Télévisions, Rai and 2M.
