SPAIN / Audio-Visual Technology Trade Show (BIT) at Madrid’s Feria

BIT, the annual audiovisual technology trade show, was held in Madrid from May 8th to 10th. All the major players involved in audiovisual broadcasting were there – distributors, manufacturers and service providers. Traditional TV and radio people were there as well of course, but also representatives from the cinema and various innovative distributors.

More than 250 companies were able to discuss the challenges facing the audiovisual world and offer technological solutions to improve what is on offer today. Many aspects were covered: hyperrealism in virtual reality, advanced graphics adapted for sport, the latest innovations in the field of radio, new generation cameras for cinema, the increasing simplification and accessibility of video production tools and even business communication.

A seminar organized by the Spanish public broadcaster (RTVE) with the Atresmedia and Mediaset Spain allowed those companies to present their recent agreement to launch a common platform for HbbTV, hoping this will give a better experience to the increasing number of hybrid digital users in Spain.

For the second consecutive year, BIT presented the best innovations in the audiovisual field, highlighting 8 particularly forward-looking proposals in “BIT Innova”.

For María Valcarce, the trade show’s director, BIT is now the reference for the sector for the simple reason that for thirty years it has successfully anticipated changes in the industry.
