SLOVENIA / The Festival of Migrant Film

Preparations are under way for the next Festival of Migrant Film. The 11th ! Film-makers have until January 15th to send in their films, which must be subtitled in English or Slovenian. Different genres are eligible, from documentary to animation. Those selected will be screened in June 2020, on or close to International Refugee Day, June 20th.

Every year public screenings, round tables and meetings are organized to discuss current topics: the factors behind migration (economic, political, insecurity) and Europe’s role in protecting those fleeing countries devastated by war. International film-makers and activists will be there to talk about their experiences helping to foster a more tolerant, inclusive society, and their relationship with migrants.

The various events will take place in several Slovenian cities but mainly in Ljubljana at the Kinodvor Cinema, the Slovenian Cinematheque, the Skuc Gallery and the town’s museum.

Since 2012 Croatia, Serbia and Slovenia have agreed on international cooperation and the creation of a new category of films for the festival: Travels through Forgotten Places.
