ITALY / 2018 summer season of “Doc3” starts on Rai3

The Doc3 slot has just unveiled its summer schedule. During the second half of almost every Thursday evening from June 21st to October 4th some fifteen documentaries will be shown, presented by Fabio Mancini. Each film tells a story from around the world, seen through the eyes of the men and women concerned. Here is a recap of the films which are broadly about the Mediterranean. -28/06 : “Therapy” by Peter d’Angelo and Fabio Valle (Italy): Re-building your personality through psychotherapy

-12/07 : “Born in Syria” by Hernàn Zin (Italy, Argentine): Portraits of Syrian adolescents, this film won the Broadcasting Award Rai3 at the 2017 PriMed

-19/07 : “Nata Femmena” by Elisabetta Rasicci and Pasquale Formicola (Italy): Intolerance towards “effeminate” men in Naples

-02/08 : “Soufra” by Thomas A. Morgan (USA, Lebanon): Women in a Palestinian refugee camp in Beirut

-16/08 : “What Walaa Wants” by Christy Garland (Canada, Denmark): A young Palestinian woman dreams of joining the police

-23/08 : “Primo Movimento” by Francesco Matera (Italy): The dreams, disappointments and triumphs of young people studying at the Fiesole music school

-30/08 : “Fuori Campo” by Daniele Gaglianone (Italy): Three Italian women decide, for humanitarian reasons,  to look after migrants outside the usual reception centres

-06/09 : “Athens Blues” by Massimo Bongiorno (Italy): Portrait of Greece today

-20/09 : “Pagine Nascoste” by Sabrina Varangui (Italy): Author Francesca Melandri, researching for her new novel about Italy’s colonial past in Libya, learns about her own family.
