On January 21st Eric Scherer was appointed Director of International Relations and Cooperation at France Télévisions. His appointment follows the departure of Jérôme Cathala, who has been made the public broadcaster’s Mediator. At the same time, Scherer retains his position as Director of Future Media and of the Information MediaLab.

Eric Scherer’s mission is to broaden the France Télévisions group’s cooperation abroad, to consolidate the French broadcaster’s relations with other European public broadcasters, and to increase the group’s influenceinternationally.

A journalist and reporter since 1985, Eric Scherer previously held executive positions in an international setting. He was director of external affairs at AFP. At the end of 2010, he joined the France Télévisions group as director of forecasting and digital strategy. His career continued to flourish within the group, becoming Director of Innovation and International Affairs before being appointed Director of International Relations and Cooperation.
