EGYPT / “Al Bahth Aan Ola”, a new series on Netflix for Ramadan

Ten years after the character Ola Abdel-Sabour first appeared in the series “Ayza Atgawez” (“I want to get married”), Netflix is bringing her back in a new series.

Ayza Atgawez” began life in 2018 as a humorous blog about the never-ending quest for a suitable husband. Then it became a bestselling novel before finally being adapted for Egyptian television, broadcast during Ramadan in 2010.

Al Bahth An Ola

The originality of the series was that Ola regularly interrupted the story to share her feelings with viewers, involving them as witnesses. Life was passing her by and social pressure was pushing her to find a husband before she reached thirty. In each episode she met a potential new husband, drawing audiences into many hilarious situations.

In June 2020 Netflix released “Ayza Atgawez” online and now it’s the streaming giant’s fifth most viewed series in Egypt.

Season 2 is called “Al Bahth Aan Ola” (“Find Ola”). Production started at the end of January 2021 in Cairo. Audiences will find Ola years later, still trying to balance the responsibilities of her job with her efforts to find love again. The release date has not yet been announced.

On her Instagram account the actress playing Ola, Tunisian-Egyptian Hend Sabry, shared a video of the cast and crew.

There are very popular actors in this second season, such as Khaled El Nabawy, made famous for his role in Citizen(2012).
